Pattern Re-Release: The Busy Bee Throw

Sorry that this is a super late posting this week, but it's been a bit crazy around here lately...

This week I'm announcing the re-release of my first published pattern: The Busy Bee Throw! To celebrate, I'm offering a 20% discount on it in my Ravelry store until 11:59 PM CST on May 18, 2016. (No coupon needed.)

This is a great pattern for those of you new to crochet (or for those of you who want to be new to crochet) because it uses very simple stitches and you are only ever working on a small piece of fabric until the very end when you seam the whole thing together. This technique also makes this a great travel project because the hexagon pattern is very easy to memorize so all you need is 1 ball of yarn, and your crochet hook tucked into your bag.

Originally published last Spring in Knitpicks' pattern collection: The Well Made Home: Crochet the Busy Bee Throw has been made in quite a few beautiful color combinations over the past year:

My friend, Peggy, had originally intended to use this collection of City Tweed DK for a Granny Square Afghan but thought that the hexagons would be a more fun use of these lovely colors.

Gamegirljill made this adorable girly version out of Knitpicks Brava. She also made it large enough to cover her twin-size bed as a comforter.

I just love the color pops on Vestigialwords' Busy Bee Throw! Who would have thought that just swapping in that brown would make such a big difference?

I'm so looking forward to all the new combinations that everyone comes up with so please tag me if you're making a Busy Bee Throw of your own and post pictures.
Grab your copy while it's on sale and pick up some new spring-y colors of yarn or use this to do some stash busting! Have a great week of crafting, everyone!

  1. Can you please do a quick YouTube demo for how to seam the busy bee throw with color d? I'm doing mattress stitch per the pattern but the stitches disappear and it does not look like the picture above. Thanks Julie

    1. Hi! Sorry, I just now saw your post. I'll see if we can get a video put together this weekend so that you can see how I seam it together.
